بندهای اسمی

تعریف: بند اسمی بندی است که در جمله نقش اسمی دارد و ساختار آن همیشه خبری است یعنی فعل کمکی ندارد.

 

بیشتر کلمات پرسشی با دو حرف  Wh- شروع می‌شوند و یکی از اجزای جمله را مورد سؤال قرار می‌دهند. این کلمات عبارتند از:

 who – whom – where – when – what – why – how – whose – which – how many – how much

 

به مثالهای زیر دقت کنید:

 

1. Where do they live?                  .آنها کجا زندگی می کنند

     فعل کمکی

2. What did she say?                      او چه گفت؟

       فعل کمکی

3. Why can’t he sleep?                چرا او نمی تواند بخوابد؟

       فعل کمکی

 

همانگونه که در این مثالها می بینید،این جملات حالت سؤالی دارند یعنی بعد از کلمات پرسشی  ابتدا از فعل کمکی و سپس از فاعل استفاده شده است.

 

حال اگر بخواهیم همین کلمات پرسشی را در وسط جمله بکار ببریم، ساختار جمله بعد از آن بصورت یک جمله خبری است، یعنی اینکه بعد از کلمه پرسشی ابتدا فاعل و سپس  فعل را می آوریم. مثال:

 

We know where they live.                                     .ما می‌دانیم که آنها کجا زندگی می‌کنند

                                                                                                                                                                                         بند اسمی

I remember what she said.                                       .آنچه را که او گفت بخاطر می آورم

                                                                                                                                                                                           بند اسمی

 

پزشکان متعجبند چرا او نمی تواند بخوابد.                .The doctors wonder why he can’t sleep

                                        بند اسمی

 

I don’t know what did you study.   (غلط)

I don’t know what you studied.      (صحیح)

 

We all asked when you bought that.

همگی پرسیدیم کی اونو خریدی.

 

We all asked when did you buy that. (غلط)

 

نکته مهم: تنها در یک صورت بند اسمی به صورت سوالی می آید و آن هم این که بند اسمی بین علامت نقل قول قرار بگیرد.

We all asked; “When did you buy that?”

همگی پرسیدیم “کی اونو خریدی؟”

 

مثال های واقعی از بند اسمی:

 

 

Light knows when you are looking at it. (“Light and space” artist James Turrell)
(Here, the noun clause is the direct object of the verb “knows.”)

 

It is a light thing for whoever keeps his foot outside trouble to advise and counsel him that suffers. (Greek tragedian Aeschylus)
(Here, the noun clause is the object of a preposition (“for”).)

 

My relationships are between me and whomever I’m with, not between me and the world. (Actress Lili Reinhart)
(Here, the noun clause is the object of a preposition (“with”).)

 

Liberty means responsibility. That is why most men dread it. (Playwright George Bernard Shaw)
(Here, the noun clause is a subject complement.)

 

Ask your child what he wants for dinner only if he’s buying. (Fran Lebowitz)
(This noun clause is the direct object of “ask.”)

 

He knows all about art, but he doesn’t know what he likes. (James Thurber, 1894-1961)
(This noun clause is the direct object of “know.”)

 

It is even harder for the average ape to believe that he has descended from man. (H L Mencken, 1880-1956)
(This noun clause is the direct object of “believe.”)
