Meaning: Not know anything

Example: Jason claims to have a lot of programming experience, but I’m pretty sure he doesn’t know jack about databases.

جیسون ادعا میکنه که مهارت زیادی در زمینه برنامه نویسی داره، اما تقریبا مطمئنم که حتی درباره دیتابیس هم چیزی نمیدونه.

مراقب باش ــ توی نمایشگاه سکه های تقلبی زیادی هست. اما این دلار نقره ای، یک نمونه اصله.

نمیخوام این شغل رو به هرکسی که از راه میرسه بدم. تو رو انتخاب کردم چون برای این جور کارا استعداد داری.

این ماشین درست کار نمیکنه ــ ما مجبوریم کنسرو ها رو با دست جدا کنیم.

همه فن حریف

 

Meaning: A person with a wide variety of skills

Example: He’s a jack of all trades – he’ll fix your car and then come in and program your computer.

او همه فن حریفه. ماشینت رو تعمیر میکنه و بعد میاد داخل وکامپیوترت رو درست میکنه.

 

8. Even Steven

بی حساب / یر به یر/ سر به سر

 

Meaning: Owing nothing; tied (in a game)

Example: There, I paid you the last two dollars I owe you. Now we’re even-steven.

بفرما، دو دولار بدهیت رو بهت پس دادم. حالا بی حساب شدیم.

 

9. (Between) Buckley’s and Nunn

شانس کمی داشتن/ احتمال صفر

 

Meaning: Almost nil

Example: Your chances of getting vacation time this summer are between Buckley’s and Nunn.

امسال تابستون احتمال اینکه فرصت تعطیلات رفتن داشته باشی، زیر صفره.
