THE LION AND THE RABBIT
شیر و خرگوش

 

A cruel lion lived in the forest.

شیری بی رحم در جنگل زندگی می کرد.

 

Every day, he killed and ate a lot of animals.

او هر روزتعداد زیادی از حیوانات را می کشت و می خورد.

 

 The other animals were afraid the lion would kill them all.

حیوانات دیگر می ترسیدند که شیر همه شان را بکشد.

 

The animals told the lion, “Let’s make a deal.

حیوانات به شیرگفتند، “بیا با هم یک معامله بکنیم.”

 

If you promise to eat only one animal each day, then one of us will come to you every day.

اگر قول بدهی که هر روز فقط یک حیوان را بخوری،بعد هر روز یکی از ما پیش تو میاید تا او را بخوری.

 

Then you don’t have to hunt and kill us.”

در نتیجه دیگر ناچار نیستی به شکار بپردازی و ما را بکشی.

 

The plan sounded well thought-out to the lion, so he agreed, but he also said, “If you don’t come every day, I promise to kill all of you the next day!”

 Each day after that, one animal went to the lion so that the lion could eat it.

The lion angrily asked the rabbit, “Why are you late?”

 “I was hiding from another lion in the forest.

That lion said he was the king, so I was afraid.”

The lion told the rabbit, “I am the only king here! Take me to that other lion, and I will kill him.

 The rabbit replied, “I will be happy to show you where he lives.”

خرگوش جواب داد: ” خوشحال می شوم جای آن شیر را به شما نشان دهم.”

 

The rabbit led the lion to an old well in the middle of the forest.

خرگوش شیر به سمت چاهی قدیمی در وسط جنگل راهنمایی کرد.

 

The well was very deep with water at the bottom.

آن چاه چاهی عمیق بود که ته آن آب وجود داشت.

 

The rabbit told the lion, “Look in there.

خرگوش به شیر گفت، “آنجا را نگاه کنید.

 

The lion lives at the bottom.”

شیر در آن پایین زندگی می کند.”

 

When the lion looked in the well, he could see his own face in-the water.

هنگامی که شیر در چاه نگاه کرد،چهره خود را در آب دید.

 

 He thought that was the other lion.

فکر کرد که این همان یکی شیر است.

 

Without waiting another moment, the lion jumped into the well to attack the other lion.

بدون لحظه ای درنگ، شیر به درون چاه پرید تا به آن یکی شیر حمله کند.

 

He never came out.

او هیچ وقت بیرون نیامد.

 

All of the other animals in the forest were very pleased with the rabbit’s clevertrick.
